Teaching Philosophy:

A musician is not unlike a carpenter. They possess many tools in which to build a piece of music. Their utilities include reading and comprehension of the piece, their ear and listening to check for mistakes in the harmony, and music theory which is the basis of the language of music. At MVD Music studio all of these skills are cultivated and nurtured.

"Fun and music are in harmony"

"Mike has not only been Adam's music teacher for over 9 years but also a mentor and a friend. He makes learning music fun and has a great deal of patience. After his lesson Adam is always in good spirits. It is one of the highlights of the week."

– Joanne MacNeill

"Mike's passion and enthusiasm for music is hard to miss. He has a way of teaching which demands the best from his students, but in a manner which is fun, nonjudgmental, and nurturing. Mike has a great personality and is always friendly and uplifting. His love of music and his desire to spread that love through teaching is truly inspirational."

–  Bethany Stockmal

"Mike is a smart, fun, organized and enthusiastic musician who really knows how to connect with and inspire his students. We highly recommend him for music lessons!"

– Jennifer Read

Mike has been my 9 year old daughter's piano teacher for about 4 years and my 12 year old daughter's for one year. Teaching comes naturally to Mike, he connects easily with his students and gets them excited to learn, I think they forget they are actually learning. His passion for music is contagious. Mike rocks.
